2008 Finals Day
Finals Day
It stopped raining, the sun shone and the green bowled very well
considering it had rained for the previous 48 hours. A crowd of approximately 40
members sat around the green plus others watching from the bar and witnessed
some excellent bowling and some very close games, here are the three closest. In
the Four bowl club championship Adrian scored 6 shots against Vinny’s 2 shots
over the last 5 ends to win 21:19. In the Ladies pairs Marion & Eva scored a 4
to defeat Margaret & Ellie 16:15. The Isaac Williams pairs was won by Rob & Jim
who scored 1 on the last end to defeat George & John 10:9. All games were played
in the right spirit and thanks to the ladies and Anne-marie for supplying food
and serving drinks from the bar. CLICK HERE

2008 Season
A brilliant season
The end of the season approaches and we can look back on a great deal of
success. We report with very great pleasure that the Marshall Shield
is back at Middlesbrough Bowling Club. President Adrian Ward is
delighted especially as his father had been President in 1981 when MBC won the
Marshall Shield for the first time.
NYEBA League - we went through the season suffering only one defeat, our 7th
league title since 2000. We also won the Team Tournament, the day before the
Marshall Shield defeating Smiths Dock in semi( Borough Park) & Pallister Park
in final (Saltburn). Team was P Stoker (singles), A Ward & S O'Brien (pairs),
R Godley, J Wennington, SHForrest (triples), and T Carroll, R Robertson, H
Robinson, P Watkins (fours). So a league and cup double.Walker Cup - We won
the League. For the last four games we recorded a maximum 5 points per game to
win league in style.
South Durham North Yorkshire League, we won league on last match versus RAOB,
to pip Thornaby BC by a couple of points. Coronation Cup - we defeated RAOB on
Monday to win the cup...so a league and cup double!
We won the SDNY rinks....Cliff Webber, Peter Watkins &
Stuart Forrest......just a little extra.
So that makes 6 cups/league wins !!
